Monitoring intake of fresh water

Monitoring your intake of fresh water

Fresh water

Freshwater is one of the essentials of camper life. Making tea or coffee, cooking, dishwashing, flushing your toilet, brushing your teeth, showering, all requires an amount of fresh water. In our case we can take > 100 liters of potable water on board, but is that wise? The downside of a full large freshwater tank is its weight. For every liter of water an extra kg has to be carried along and saving weight is important in order not to exceed the maximum weight of your camper. So, if you can take in water regularly, it is not necessary to completely fill up your tank.

Using a watering can or a jug enables you to keep an eye on the amount of water you take in, but it can be less comfortable having to walk around without splashing.

I like to fill my tank with a (my own) hose, but since the tank is not easily reachable, it is not easy to monitor the amount of water that flows in while filling. My ideal workaround is inserting a simple flowmeter, from Parkside, bought at Lidl for just over 5 euros. Works like a charm and saves me from spilling water.
